Nassau County Dog Parks

Playing with Your Dog

Exercise and fresh air equals happy dogs. Exercising your dog also brings health benefits, including weight control, and can help resolve behavioral issues that result from restlessness and boredom. In Nassau County, pet owners have numerous dog parks to choose from, not just in Hicksville-Hempstead; but also, in Massapequa, Roslyn, Seaford, and Wantagh, NY.

Before heading out, please check Nassau County, NY park websites or call to check rules and hours of operation. Some parks permit dogs only in certain areas or have designated dog runs and some may require membership.

As a reminder, please respect all dog park rules and the following Nassau County dog park etiquette:

  • Pick up after your dog
  • Keep dogs leashed when required
  • Always ask other owners before introducing dogs
  • Do not bring dogs who are aggressive or unfriendly
  • Keep an eye on your dog at all times and take responsibility for their behavior
  • Follow posted park rules

The Dog Parks

For those looking to enjoy an outdoor excursion but not interested in the Hicksville/Nassau County dog park social scene, consider Sagamore Hill in Oyster Hill, NY. Sagamore Hill was the home of Theodore Roosevelt and is now a part of the National Park Service. Roosevelt and his family were animal lovers who enjoyed their own menagerie, and pets are welcome to explore the 83 acre property from down until dusk. All pets must be on a leash no greater than six feet long and are not allowed inside any buildings.
